bibi is a handheld and stationary physical-digital companion for people who experience difficulty around everyday routines such as exercising, studying, reading or cooking. The device is inspired by body doubling: doing an activity alongside someone else as a way to make beginning, staying with, or completing a task feel easier. bibi explores how that sense of shared presence can be translated into an object.

Initial Design Probe
This design probe was the starting point for bibi. I used a simple physical object and interchangeable character drawings to explore whether a reflection of a person through a customised character could make everyday routines feel more approachable. The probe helped me understand that the value was not only in the activity itself, but in the feeling of having a quiet presence alongside it.
